Detailed information on Seventies Azilal rug
This 1970s Azilal is a total statement piece - rich in tribal appeal with its bold African inspired colour palette of red, white, green, faded yellow and black. Handwoven by the tribeswomen using traditional Berber methods, the design features small abstract figures and motifs to one end and a larger central character in the centre. These are surrounded by three blocks of geometric shapes in alternating colours, which create an impressive organic pattern.
It is slightly fraying in one corner, which is to be expected given its age -- we think that this adds to its appearance and integrity as an original, vintage piece.
