HOT ! The Carla Pearl

I don’t usually name my bags but this one is named after my beloved Aunt who recently passed away at aged 91.

We connected early on in my life and had a special bond that passed beyond family ties

She was also an artist and had a love for glamour. She taught me how to sew by hand when I was around 10. Together we made a red carpet worthy Barbie gown, complete with floor length duster jacket in earth tone floral chiffon. I’ll never forget it and we still talked about it.

She had many talents and inspired me in more ways than I can describe.We didn’t see each other often after I moved 2,000 miles away but we always exchanged holiday cards and talked on the phone. The last couple of years we spoke at least twice a month for hours at a time. I was planning a trip to see her in April.

During one of those conversations, she told me she wanted me to have the pearl necklace that my Uncle gave her. He bought them when he was stationed in Japan and were rare. Those two were soulmates and together now, so this is quite an honor for me.

The point of this story is that a few weeks ago, I woke up around 3am for some odd reason. Something made me grab my crochet hook, and roll of pearls without thinking about it. By 8am, this bag came out of me

I didn’t know at the time that she had already passed, I only learned a few days ago after not being able to get through to her.

Maybe this was her waking me up. I don’t know, but that’s what I’ll hold on to.I’ll miss her unconditional love for me, I always felt it and she ended each phone call with, “I love you Jill Markowicz”. And I in turn would say, “I love you too Carla Jones”.
