HOT ! Vintage Dainty 50s Twin Handled Glossy Rich Chocolate Alligator Skin Handbag Made In France

This is a gorgeous little handbag, of high end quality which is in excellent condition in a rich glossy dark brown alligator skin. It is a solid handbag with a substantial frame and gilt clasp most commonly found on french handbags, especially the earlier examples from the 40s/50s. The skins are supple with no cracks or splits, there is an attractive central panel of skin to both the front and back of the handbag. The handles, are slim and elegant with no creasing and are firm and strong being secured to the handbag by dainty metal clips. The clasp is lovely, it is pretty and opens the handbag by pressing down on the metal button in the centre of the clasp which operates the hinge inside so the bag can be pulled open. The frame, where visible on the outside, is alligator skin covered. The base has minimal scuffing to the skin as it is protected by four gilt studs. The inside of the handbag is in similarly excellent condition, it is lined in dark brown soft leather which has minor evidence of use, some scuffs but no marks or stains. The frame inside is still shiny with just the odd spot of tarnish. There is no brand name and no marking to the frame but we believe it is made in France, it has many features common to French handbags of the era.A gorgeous, dainty little alligator skin handbag of high end quality, beautifully made with lots of attention to detail.
