Natsukusa ya – Tsuwamonodomo ga – Yume no ato (Summer grasses—traces of dreams of ancient warriors.)
Inspired by Matsuo Bashō’s famous haiku written in Hiraizumi, the birthplace of this kettle, the Natsukusa color brings a poetic sense of tranquility and reflection to your daily tea ritual. This piece is part of Oitomi’s beloved Tachime series – refined yet grounded, blending traditional craftsmanship with timeless beauty.
Features・Traditional Kiln-Fired Finish: The soft gray interior is proof of the kamayaki process, a traditional firing technique that creates a natural oxide coating. This finish allows for trace iron release, supporting gentle iron intake with every use.・Material: Cast iron (handle: steel)・Capacity: 0.8 L usable (1 L full)・Dimensions: W 16 cm × D 16 cm × H 16 cm (including handle)・Base diameter: 12.5 cm・Weight: 1.7 kg・Tea strainer: Included・Handle: Movable・Made in Japan
Usage Notes・Suitable for gas, IH (low heat recommended for IH 200), and charcoal.・Not enamel-coated inside.・Do not use detergent, sponges, or scouring pads when cleaning.・Over time, natural color changes may occur due to exposure to steam or heat – adding unique character to your kettle. Slight rusting or patina is a natural part of its aging process and does not affect performance.
This kettle reflects the spirit of Japanese wabi-sabi-finding quiet beauty in imperfection and the passage of time. A treasured piece that connects daily life with centuries of craftsmanship and poetry.
