Unattributed, Brazil, c. 1950s. This compact side table exemplifies mid-century Brazilian restraint — an economical, sculptural object in which a rotating top and two-tier plan are resolved into a clear, purposeful geometry. The piece reads as a study in proportion and purposeful detail: a slightly chamfered rectangular top pivots atop a tapered support, creating a modestly animated surface that can be reoriented for service or display.

Formally spare, the design balances a taut horizontal plane with a vertical armature. The swivel top is set above a secondary shelf, the two planes separated by a crisply pared support that narrows toward the base; the result is a lively, compact silhouette in which the relationship of top, shelf and leg is deliberately composed.
