A remarkable early 20th century gold and diamond bracelet with a beautiful openwork dragonfly motif in a head of platinum. I believe this bracelet is Edwardian (1900s-1910s) given the style of the body and the platinum top. The dragonfly assists in dating, too, since insects, botanical motifs and woodland critters of all kinds were favorite subjects of artists during the early 1900s. This is an exceptional piece with seventy-nine old mine and old European Cut diamonds pavé set across the body and wings of a sweet dragonfly. The dragonfly - complete with curled antennae and segmented abdomen - hovers within an eye-shaped diamond frame. The ends of the frame taper, loop and gather with the kind of softness characteristic of Edwardian design. The body of the bracelet is 14K yellow gold with a split, knife-edge shank that connects at the rear to create pretty segments. The bracelet hinges open with ease. Two clasp mechanisms - tab and latch - with an option for a third (safety chain absent, but could be added). This would be a beautiful wedding bracelet!Note: This piece comes with a jewelry appraisal for insurance/replacement in the amount of $8800.Measurements: 16 grams, 6 1/2\" (16.5 cm)Details: (79) European Cut diamonds, various sizes, 2.0 CTW SI-VS/G-IEra: Edwardian, 1900s-1910sMarkings: 14K on clasp
